One thing I learned about last week...did you know that the Gen III Prius haas no engine belts? Just like the new Caterpillar D7E, the water pump is a 3 phase electric motor. It is driven by a power, a ground and a data communications bus.
More electrical/electronics in our modern equipment? Why yes, I do believe so. (;
Perhaps next quarter we'll begin to explore the 'why' and 'how' of motor drives such as this.
