"Think about times—out of school as well as in school--when you learned something new. Make some notes about what helped you feel comfortable about learning in that situation. Focus on what make the learning happen rather than the content you learned."

My general learning process is broken down into steps, regardless of the circumstances.
ReplyDelete1. Idea presentation or challenge.
2. Analyze the problem or challenge.
3. Come up with and sort possible answers.
4. Settle on a solution.
For me the comfort comes in when I'm allowed to process this way.

ReplyDeleteWhat helps my learning is:
1 As questions on something I am unsure about.
2 Look up information.
3 by doing it "hands on"
I have realized that when learning something new, it goes much smoother when you have the proper equipment. Two examples of this recently for me, has been proper welding gear and using a hydraulic puller to pull the gear off the crankshaft. First with the welding I was fortunate to have someone’s expertise to show me welding tricks. I purchased the proper gear and I felt much more comfortable to weld because I could see better with a magnifying glass added to my auto darkening electronic welding hood. Second, when working hands on to pull the gear off the crankshaft with a hydraulic puller I realized that if you have the proper tools and training you can do many things easier.
ReplyDeleteWhen in learning i learn better with hands on experience, and with help of otheirs that have the experience with whatever i might be doing. Having been in the class room this quarter helping with the projects that we have been doing i am learning alot and now with some experience in putting in the clutch into my car with the help of Iann And Raul they have helped me with learning things and from you as well. Then also have learend as well with Raul on using the hydraulic gear puller. Now i am learning all the tools and what their uses are. Then i have learned how to use the plasma cutter this qurter and have been learning how to weld more in class.
ReplyDeleteTHE best ways for to learn are by taking my time and thinking about what i am working on. looking up information on what i am working on/working hands on helps me retain information and figuring out the best way to finish the task at hand.
ReplyDeleteI feel I learn the best when I am challenged with something I haven't dealt with before. The times when I feel most comfortable is when I am challenged as well as given to the time to let me figure out the situation.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am learning something new I learn best when:
ReplyDelete1) a person who understands the subject they are teaching
2) have an idea what I am getting into (what to expect)
3) someone around to ask questions
4) someone who is patient while I grasp the concept
5) practice the concepts until I am comfortable.
6) depending on the situation, I may take notes
Those are some of my learning strategies.

I learn the best when i try something first, make mistakes or struggle then someone with expertise comes in to to help me get back on the right track. Example of this is when i was doing a clutch job on a freightliner. There are so many bolts that you cant see and i really struggled trying to get a socket and impact on the bolt. Well turns out i needed a shorter extension with a wobble socket and feed the airgun through the bottom of the truck and not throught the cab.. I beleive hands on training is the best form of training
ReplyDeleteThe things that push me to learn in and out of school come down to two things. Who is teaching me meaning are they interested in teaching you and how do they teach? A good teacher someone you get along with and wants to help you in my experience goes a long way. and the second being do you want to learn is it something your interested in or need to learn. so last words good teacher, necessity or interest is what drives me.
