Spark

What do you think is going on here?

  1. The circut is opened and as the high current electricity escapes but still finds a path to the other side to complete it's flow, seeking the closest grounding source?

  2. Could it be related to the large voltage spike we saw on the scope today at Dan's demo when the evap canister solenoid was turned off? A similar spike like that in such a high voltage system may have found a path in the air particles to form the arc shown...

  3. If it's seeking a path to ground why does the current not flow straight between the two points once it finds it? Wouldn't the path of least resistance in this case be the shortest?

  4. I think that the system shorted somewhere else and that caused the smallest part of the circuit to burn up like a fuse.
