Great video Nick Grumel talks about the corect way to take a sample always making sure no contamination or cross contaminates are present learned alot from NICK he has a big selection of how to videos great guy by the way I would like a oil sample bottle so i can test my surburban it has 202000 miles thanks Jeff
Pretty simple process although it would be very easy to mess things up without a focus on cleanliness and eliminating the possibility for cross-contamination. Looking forward to seeing what 210K miles has to show.
At first I was a little skeptical about the oil dip stick tube because the proses is so much longer but overall it is a cleaner way to do it compared to just taking it from the oil drain plug.
yup, short and sweet are the keys to a good demo vidieo.
only problem is when you try to take an oil sample.... some times the dipstick tube at the bottom only allows your stick to go in one way so you cant get the tube down it. myself and Quin found that out on our own vehicals, but i was able to get a sample from my trans fluid ok.
Yes be careful Ian. I've found a section of sample tube in an oil pan before from someone forcing a tube down and severing it while trying to get it out.
I do oil samples on a regular basis. An excellent way to get a "snap shot" of the inside of your engine, transmission, etc... It is a very simple but very valuable task.
