Birch Equipment Rental and Sales is seeking an Equipment Mechanic Apprentice intent on obtaining a career in an established rental company. Birch Equipment is currently ranked the 88th largest rental company in the United States and is one of the largest locally owned rental companies in the region. With over 40,000 pieces of state-of-the-art equipment, Birch works directly with manufacturers regarding maintenance, training and equipment design. Headquartered in Washington and Alaska, Birch Equipment provides daily to seasonally services to Alaska, Washington, Montana and Oregon.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
The Mechanic Apprentice will partake in a two year (depending on experience) apprenticeship to gain and master the skills necessary to move up to the mechanic position. The apprenticeship will undergo an intensive training program which includes one-on-one training to utilize preventive maintenance, safe operation and equipment repair. Mechanic Apprentice will assist Birch Equipment's Mechanics in keeping the fleet of 40,000 pieces of equipment & tools running safely and effectively throughout construction, manufacturing and home-improvement season, as well as pro-actively maintaining equipment year-round.
Major Activities for Mechanic Apprentice:
•Works in compliance with Birch Equipment's operational and safety procedures
•Ensure all tools & equipment are properly cleaned, tested and in good working condition.
•Assist both customers and mechanics as needed, by making minor repairs and annual inspections on equipment
•Attend and participate in company and vendor training on Equipment as well as Birch Equipment procedures
Essential Job requirements
•High School diploma/GED
•WA Driver's License
•Safe driving record
•Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
•Ability to bend or kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods
•Provide own tools
•Willing to work in elements year-round
Skills Desired:
Good communication, Excellent driving skills, Attention to detail, Ability to follow direction, self-starting, smart, punctual, Ability to lift 50 lbs.
